Alyssa Bianca Santos
Welcome to the world of a sixteen year old frustrated blogger and incoming freshie who spends most of her time lost in the world of fictional books or mindlessly surfing the net. Someday she will travel the world with her family and best friends but right now she’s stuck in her teenage years as a self-proclaimed nerd and self- taught guitar player with a decent singing voice. She hopes to take better pictures and give this blog a more personal touch.

MAYA.

While making my own bill I actually learned a lot our former National bird.

These little birds that we see everywhere (like on electrical wires) are actually not the national birds. These birds are actually the Eurasian Tree Sparrow. It’s still locally called Maya but its not the only one.

This is what the real former national bird looks like. Cool huh? locals call it maya pula (I read that one on the ‘net, but I have never heard anyone use this term)

the Maya was the National Bird of the Philippines until 1995 when the government decided that the Monkey eating eagle should be our National Bird

Well that clears things up for me, at least I won’t call those little birds that sometimes land on the ledge as Mayas anymore :))
